Is your supply chain prepared for clearance on arrival to the UK?

If you have chosen to delay your Customs declarations for goods imported into the UK from the EU since 1 January 2021, the scheme ends on 31 December 2021.

The government has extended the scheme for a further six months until the end of this year, but this does not extend the deadline for goods already imported – it simply allows declarations for goods to be imported from the EU in the second half of the year to also be deferred by six months in the same way.

The last date to import goods under the deferred declaration scheme is 31 December. After this date, you still have 175 days to do the declaration, but from 1 January 2022, full import declarations will be required at the time of import.

How best to prepare for the changes…

Ensure you have prepared the necessary declarations for submission, review your classifications, and apply the correct preferential statement based on the country of origin to ensure your declaration is compliant and takes advantage of duty relief where possible.

CCC Driver Academy Scheme a Success

In August we launched an internal driver academy scheme in response to the critical shortage of drivers in the UK driver market.

Since we introduced the scheme we have received a positive intake of drivers and we are thrilled with the process so far – designed to help warehouse operatives become skilled drivers.

We also joined forces with Europa Worldwide Group to help launch the ‘Europa School of Wheels’ – a scheme to help both those within the company and externally to receive the required training to be Class 1 or 2 drivers. This too has been a great success and we look forward to seeing the drivers hit the road!
